Rêves d'Orient illustrates the critical intersection between fashion and design, where couture meets custom hand-tufted carpets for residences, hotel and yachts. Takada reinterprets the rug, taking it beyond fashion or home decor, evoking instead a luxurious, gracious, and fashionable lifestyle.
Wools and silks are united in a single weft, creating complex textures that catch the light in different ways. The carpets patterns are complex, with designs layered one on top of the next. Like the designs, the color palette is sensitively calibrated; the layering of numerous colors is so subtle that it gives the initial impression of just a single, complex hue.
